About Me

Marilyn Garcia has been a top-producing agent in Berkeley since 2002. Her deep understanding of the market and her comprehensive approach to the preparation and marketing of homes have led to truly exceptional results for her seller clients. When working with buyers, she offers candid assessments of not only the highlights, but also the potential concerns with prospective homes, and is an excellent guide through the challenges of buying in a competitive market. She is straightforward and easygoing, but also analytical, organized and detail-oriented. Her extensive relationships within the local real estate community allow her to find opportunities and successfully advocate on behalf of her clients.

A Berkeley resident for over 30 years, Marilyn grew up in New England and got her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College. She moved to Berkeley in 1988 to attend Cal where she received her Ph.D. in economics. After a number of years as an economics professor, teaching classes in macroeconomics and financial markets to undergraduates and master’s students, Marilyn decided to make her passion for real estate her full-time focus.

Marilyn lives in a classic 1950 Roger Lee mid-century modern with her husband and their Milo Foundation rescue super-dog. They have one daughter, who graduated from Berkeley High and now attends Brown University. Marilyn’s interests beyond real estate and her family include art (museums and artist open studios), great architecture of any style, travel, farmers’ markets, origami, and Cal rugby.
